Northern Virginia Information

Northern Virginia (or "NoVa," as the locals call it) is generally regarded to include the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Stafford and Prince William, as well as the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, and Manassas Park. Northern Virginia generally includes the regions of Virginia closest to Washington, D.C. Both the Pentagon and the Central Intelligence Agency are located in Northern Virginia, as is the Dulles International Airport. NoVa historical attractions include Mount Vernon and Arlington National Cemetery. Northern Virginia has a thriving legal industry as some of Virginia's best lawyers reside and work in the area.

Because Northern Virginia is not incorporated and has no clearly defined boundaries, some would extend NoVa to include regions slightly further out from Washington, such as the Virginia counties of Clarke, Warren, Culpeper, Fauquier, and Frederick, and the independent cities of Fredericksburg and Winchester. If you live in Virginia and commute into Washington, D.C., chances are you've living in an area most would refer to as Northern Virginia.

Northern Virginia has the highest median income of any region in Virginia, and is the most racially and ethnically diverse. NoVa residents include significant numbers of Latinos, Koreans, Nigerians, Kenyans, Pakistanis, Arabs, Afghans, Indians, Iranians, Chinese, Filipino, and Vietnamese. There are especially large Korean communities in Annandale, Chantilly, and other pockets of Fairfax County. Arlington County is home to a thriving Vietnamese community as well as the largest Bolivian community in the United States.

While Virginia is categorized by the Census Bureau as part of "the South," only about 60% of the American-born Northern Virginians were born in southern states. Approximately 21% were born in the Northeast, 12% in the Midwest, and 7% in the West.

Northern Virginia has a huge population and, accordingly, a high number of lawyers and law firms. Attorney Lee Berlik of BerlikLaw has been representing Northern Virginia businesses and individuals for nearly 15 years and helping them resolve disputes throughout the region and beyond. Whether you are a small business wrongfully accused of infringing another's copyright or trademark, a government contractor who hasn't been paid for services performed, or an individual victim of defamation, BerlikLaw can help.
